Doubts About Grout?
We can go years before noticing that lovely white grout that once shined so bright is now, yellow, black or even worse greasy! While we recommend cleaning your grout yearly to keep the build up from getting to deep, we understand this isn't a priority most home and business owners have.
There are a couple simple but time consuming methods that can be used to deep clean your grout lines, but there's going to be quite a bit of elbow grease involved. My two favorite methods for a solid clean are steam cleaning with a brass brush or with a mild green cleaner and a brush attachment for a power drill. If you go with any of these methods, be sure to wear protective goggles and construction gloves that aren't water permeable. Take your time and go line by line ensuring you get a good clean before moving on to the next, it will save you a good deal of time in the long run.
Of course if it's too far gone and you just want to start fresh you can remove and replace the grout, it's just going to be a bit dusty and will take some more time.
You can always call in a professional that will charge anywhere from $0.50 to $1.50 a square foot depending on the size and condition of the grout and tile. You'll get a deep clean of not only your grout lines but of your tile as well. This can be worth it's weight in gold and bring your floors back to their original condition, extending the life of your flooring for many more years.
